The Gluten Free Kitchen (TGFK), based in Leyburn, North Yorkshire, is a specialist producer of gluten-free and free-from frozen food products. They supply supermarkets and local retailers and sell direct-to-consumers via their website.
TIG Corporate Finance was introduced to the owners of TGFK in January 2023 through another corporate finance advisor to help them sell 100% of the shares of the business.
We took the business to market and spent several months trying to secure a buyer. After some initial interest and an offer that was rejected – it was decided to take the owners down a different route.
Throughout the sales process, we had some fantastic feedback on the business, its products, and clients, however, some of the potential acquirers were looking for larger businesses to acquire and deemed TGFK too small at the present time.
After working with TGFK for some time and seeing first-hand how many organic opportunities they were receiving from supermarkets, online retailers, and hospitality companies, we proposed that they seek funding to grow and expand – allowing them to take advantage of the many available opportunities.
Working with the owners we set about producing a business plan and forecast model to show the growth opportunities that were available to TGFK. FW Capital was impressed with the company and the opportunity and decided to invest £250,000.
The growth capital has allowed TGFK to move to a larger production unit, employ more staff, and improve marketing & sales operations. The owners are extremely pleased with the outcome and excited about the future.
